A day after peace talks failed, US President Donald Trump on Sunday reiterated his threat to destroy Iran’s power plants and other civilian energy infrastructure if no deal is reached to end the conflict in the West Asia.
“I could take out Iran in one day," Trump told Fox News show “Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo". “I could have their entire energy everything, every one of their plants, their electric generating plants, which is a big deal."

This comes as Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Sunday said Iranian security forces had the Strait of Hormuz key shipping bottleneck under full control, warning that enemies would be trapped in its “deadly vortex" in case of any miscalculation, according to a report by Asharq al-Awsat.
“All traffic… is under the full control of the armed forces," the Guards naval command said in a Persian language post on X. “The enemy will become trapped in a deadly vortex in the Strait if it makes the wrong move."
This came in response to US President Donald Trump’s announcement that the United States Navy will begin blocking ships attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, citing Iran’s “unyielding" stance on its nuclear ambitions during recent peace talks in Islamabad.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, “Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter or leave the Strait Of Hormuz."
Meanwhile, Iranian state media on Sunday released footage it said showed the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warning US warships to leave the Gulf of Oman, in a tense radio exchange.
According to the footage, aired by Press TV, showed Iranian forces repeatedly warning American vessels and ordering them to change course.
In response, the US vessel said it was transiting under international law and did not intend any provocation, while also referring to a temporary ceasefire between the two sides.
This came following US Central Command statements that two American destroyers had transited the Strait of Hormuz as part of a mine-clearing operation. Tehran has denied the assertion, saying no foreign military vessels had been allowed passage without Iranian approval.
Iranian officials have previously warned that any military movement through the Strait of Hormuz would be met with a “severe" response, while allowing civilian shipping under restricted conditions.
