The Iranian government’s senior official refuted claims made by the United States regarding the health of the country’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, and said that he is healthy.
Deputy for International Affairs in the office of the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Mohsen Qomi, said that the West is using these tactics to engage in rumour mongering.
“Some people ask about the health status of His Eminence the Leader, Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Khamenei. This is a trick used by the enemy, who wants to say, ‘Why is he not present? Why doesn’t he send an audio or video message?" Qomi said, as reported by Fars News Agency.

“Why don’t the people who have visited him come forward and speak? They want to use these questions to force us into reacting, so they can achieve their goals," he further stated.
Qomi further confirmed that Mojtaba was present in the building which was bombed; however, he was ultimately saved.
“He was in that very building that was bombed, where others were martyred. Just minutes before the explosion, by God’s will he had gone into the courtyard. God wanted him to be preserved," Qomi said.
“Currently, he is in perfect health and is actively managing affairs. He oversees matters related to negotiations and field operations with his direct supervision," he added.
He further stated that the Supreme Leader recently briefed the negotiating team regarding what actions they should take under different circumstances.
“He has full command over the situation," Qomi added. He said that even though Mojtaba has suffered some injuries, Iranian officials are focused on preserving his life.
“Right now, the most important issue for us is to help preserve the life of His Eminence the Leader, who is currently the Proof of God on earth. And I assure you that despite the injuries he sustained there, Almighty God preserved him as a treasure for the Shia," he said.
Mojtaba Khamenei Grappling With Serious Health Complications
Multiple US media reports have suggested that Mojtaba Khamenei is grappling with serious health complications after surviving a bomb attack, fuelling questions about his ability to exercise full authority at a time of ongoing conflict and delicate ceasefire negotiations.

A report by The New York Times said he underwent surgery on his hand, sustained severe facial burns, and may require a prosthetic leg due to injuries from the strike.
While sources indicate he remains mentally alert and capable of decision-making, his physical condition is said to have curtailed his direct involvement in day-to-day affairs.
The report also noted that Mojtaba Khamenei has largely stayed out of public view since the February 28 airstrikes on the compound of Ali Khamenei, where he had been residing. The attack reportedly resulted in the deaths of his wife and son.
