How does Jannik Sinner’s incredible Masters run compare to Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal at 24? (Image via Getty)
Jannik Sinner is doing things in tennis that very few players have ever done. The 24-year-old Italian won the Italian Open on Sunday in front of his home fans in Rome and completed a huge career milestone in the process.
With the title, Sinner became only the second men’s player after Novak Djokovic to win all nine ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, also known as the “Career Golden Masters.” The world No. 1 beat Casper Ruud 6-4, 6-4 in the final after coming back from an early break down. He stayed calm under pressure, mixed powerful groundstrokes with clever drop shots, and controlled the match from the baseline. The Rome crowd loudly supported their home star throughout the final as Sinner lifted another big trophy in what is becoming a remarkable season.Speaking after the match, Sinner said he was proud of the last few months but admitted the pressure had been difficult at times. “I’m really, really happy. It’s been an incredible last two and a half months,” Sinner said. “There has been a lot of tension, especially here in the final. But it’s a learning process. I can’t know everything at 24 years old.”Jannik Sinner’s Rome win puts French Open rivals on alert
What makes the achievement even more impressive is how quickly he completed the full set of Masters titles. His first Masters trophy only came at the 2023 Canadian Open, yet less than three years later he already owns all nine.Former British player Tim Henman praised Sinner on Sky Sports and said the Italian’s success shows how complete his game has become. Sinner has looked comfortable on every surface and continues to dominate the ATP Tour with his consistency and calm mentality. Now the attention moves to the French Open at Roland Garros, which begins next week. Sinner has already won the Australian Open twice, Wimbledon and the US Open. If he wins the French Open, he will complete a career Grand Slam and become only the 10th man in tennis history to achieve it.Right now, very few players look capable of stopping him. Carlos Alcaraz is dealing with injury problems, while many top players have struggled for form this season.
Sinner has won 36 of his 38 matches in 2026 and has not lost a completed Masters match since October 2025.His rise is already being compared to tennis legends Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Djokovic. By the same age, Djokovic had won 17 major titles across Grand Slams, Masters events, ATP Finals and Olympics. Federer had 19, while Nadal had 28. Even so, Sinner’s current numbers show he is moving at a historic pace.
