Renowned Iranian composer and tar virtuoso, Ali Ghamsari, has staged a sit-in outside the Damavand power plant east of Tehran in protest against threats from the United States and Israel to target vital Iranian infrastructure.

Ghamsari said he would remain at the site, playing the tar, in the hope that his music could contribute to “peace and to prevent the lights from going out in homes."

In a video message shared online, Ghamsari called his protest as an act of social responsibility. He called on artists worldwide to join his campaign, using music as a form of resistance to defend Iran’s critical energy facilities.

“I hope my music can help prevent attacks on our infrastructure," he said, adding that the sit-in would continue until the perceived threats are addressed.

Ghamsari has previously clashed with Iranian authorities, including being barred from performing after he refused to remove a female singer from a concert.

The sit-in comes after US President Donald Trump issued a warning, claiming Iranians were “pleading" for bombing to continue and suggesting Iran could be destroyed “overnight" unless a deal was reached, pointing to a 8 PM Tuesday deadline.
