Kalhatti Ghat Road closed to tourists; traffic curbs announced in Nilgiris

The Nilgiris district administration has announced the closure of Kalhatti Ghat Road for tourist vehicles with immediate effect.

The measures have come into place following a Madras High Court order, seeking to control traffic into the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR). The district administration also urged local residents to contact the Police Department via phone at 9498101260 and procure entry passes for people owning non TN-43 (Ooty RTO) registered vehicles to be allowed to use the road.
