The Miami Heat are acquiring high-scoring guard Norman Powell, while forward John Collins is headed to the Los Angeles Clippers, and veterans Kevin Love and Kyle Anderson will join the Utah Jazz as part of a complex three-team trade.
The deal also includes at least one second-round draft pick being sent from the Clippers to the Jazz, according to a person familiar with the details. The individual spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity, as the trade is still awaiting final approval from the NBA.
The agreement was first reported by ESPN and is expected to be finalized following league approval.
Powell Brings Firepower to Miami
Norman Powell, who averaged 21.8 points per game last season for the Clippers and is a career 40% shooter from three-point range, is expected to boost Miami’s offensive firepower. The Heat finished 24th in the league in points per game last season and recently lost sharpshooter Duncan Robinson — the franchise’s all-time leader in three-pointers — to the Detroit Pistons in free agency.
Powell’s arrival addresses a clear need for scoring and perimeter shooting in Miami’s lineup.
Collins Gets Fresh Start with Clippers
John Collins, who posted 19 points per game in 40 appearances for the Jazz last season, will join the Clippers, giving them added athleticism and frontcourt versatility. Collins, 26, has averaged 16 points per game over eight seasons in the NBA — the first six with the Atlanta Hawks, followed by two with Utah.
Jazz Add Veteran Experience
The Utah Jazz will receive two seasoned veterans in the deal. Kevin Love, a five-time All-Star and 2016 NBA champion, is expected to provide leadership and floor spacing in Utah’s young frontcourt. Love averaged 5.3 points in 23 games with the Heat last season and had previously expressed interest in staying in Miami beyond his current contract, which runs through the 2025–26 season.
Joining him is Kyle Anderson, who played in 25 games for the Heat last season, averaging 6.7 points. Anderson, a well-known utility forward, will be suiting up for his sixth NBA team. He previously spent time with San Antonio, Memphis, Minnesota, and Golden State, and came to Miami as part of the blockbuster trade that sent Jimmy Butler to the Warriors earlier this offseason.
