‘Talks On Hold Till Ceasefire’: Iran Suspends US Negotiations Over Israeli Strikes In Lebanon

The development comes hours after Iran denied reports that a negotiating team had reached Islamabad for talks with the US, calling the claims “false.”

The negotiations between the United States and Iran have been put on hold until Washington ensures a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, according to a report by The Jerusalem Post.

Iran’s Tasnim News Agency had earlier reported that “negotiations are suspended" as long as the US does not fulfil its commitment on the Lebanon ceasefire and Israeli strikes continue.

“As long as the US doesn’t fulfil its commitment to the ceasefire in Lebanon and the Zionist regime continues its attacks, negotiations are suspended," it said.

The development comes hours after Iran denied reports that a negotiating team had reached Islamabad for talks with the US, calling the claims “false."

According to Iran’s state-affiliated Fars News Agency, Tehran said it has no plans to engage in negotiations with Washington at this stage.

“Until a ceasefire is established in Lebanon, Iran has no plan to participate in peace negotiations in Islamabad with the American side," Fars News quoted.

Rejecting a report by The Wall Street Journal that an Iranian delegation had entered Islamabad, the agency said, “The Wall Street Journal claimed a few minutes ago in a news report that an Iranian delegation has entered Islamabad to start negotiations with Washington, which is false."

Tasnim News Agency echoed that same and said that reports of an Iranian negotiating team arriving in Islamabad were incorrect.
