YSRCP leader demands inquiry into alleged bribery by Podalakur AEE

Former Minister and YSRCP Nellore district president Kakani Govardhan Reddy on Tuesday (May 12, 2026) submitted a petition to APSPDCL (South Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh) Nellore SE (Superintendent Engineer) seeking an inquiry and action against Podalakur Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), who allegedly took bribes from the farmers.

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders organised a dharna in Nellore and later submitted a petition to the SE at the Electricity Department office, Current Office Centre in the city on Tuesday.

Addressing the media, Mr. Kakani said, “When the farmers have asked for power connections to their irrigation motors, the Podalakur AEE took bribe and sent them to a local leader from Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for a recommendation letter. Podalakur Sub-Inspector Hanif called the farmers to police station and beat them up on the orders of the TDP leader.”

The SE informed the ex-Minister that an inquiry has already been ordered against the alleged AEE. However, Mr. Kakani said that he will join hands with the farmers if action is not taken against the corrupt official. He further claimed that the YSRCP will win again in the combined Nellore district whenever elections are held as the people were fed up with the Coalition government.
