No special quotas or passes
According to official sources, the Vande Bharat Sleeper will be open only to the general public. There will be no VIP or emergency quota on this train. Senior and top railway officials will also not be allowed to travel using railway passes. Only passengers with confirmed tickets will be permitted to board.
Strict ticketing rules
Officials said that only confirmed tickets will be issued, which is expected to greatly reduce waiting lists. The RAC system will not be allowed on this train. This means passengers will not have to share berths or travel on side-lower seats, ensuring a more comfortable journey for all travellers.
Upgraded comfort for passengers
Passengers will receive a fully upgraded bedroll, including improved blankets and covers. The bedroll will be modern and of better quality compared to those used on regular trains. All onboard staff will wear a uniform, and passengers will be served local cuisine during the journey.
The train will reflect India’s culture in its design and services, officials said. Passengers will benefit from transparent ticketing and uniform rules across all classes, offering a consistent travel experience.
Coach capacity
The Vande Bharat Sleeper train will have a total of 11 coaches. These include five 3 AC coaches, four 2 AC coaches and one 1 AC coach. The train will offer 823 berths in total, with 611 in 3 AC, 188 in 2 AC and 24 in 1 AC.
The train is equipped with ergonomically designed berths with better cushioning. It features automatic doors with vestibules for easy movement, improved suspension for a smoother ride, and reduced noise levels. Safety systems include Kavach automatic train protection, an emergency talk-back system, and disinfectant technology to maintain high sanitation standards.
