ADILABAD
Continuing their crackdown against the sale of banned manja (glass-coated thread), Adilabad Two Town police on Wednesday booked a vendor for allegedly selling manja.
Police seized two charkas (wooden spindles) and 14 packets of manja worth ₹8,000 from his possession.
Police identified the accused as Abdul Rashid of Tamsi bus stand area in Adilabad. A case has been registered against him.
The police have intensified vigil across the town to curb the sale of the banned manja in the peak kite-flying season ahead of Sankranti slated for Thursday.
The special drive coincides with an awareness campaign against the sale and use of manja, which poses threat to humans, animals and birds.
