Train passenger drugged and looted; two arrested

The Baiyyappanahalli Railway Police have arrested two habitual offenders for allegedly stealing valuables from a train passenger after sedating him with sleeping pills.

The accused have been identified as Safar and Sataram, both natives of Bihar. They are currently being interrogated to ascertain their possible involvement in similar crimes.

According to the police, the passenger, identified as Krishna Kumar, a native of Bihar, was on his way to Danapur on January 2, when he became acquainted with two strangers during the journey. The duo introduced themselves as fellow natives of Bihar and gradually gained his trust. During a halt at a railway station, they got down and brought tea for him. Unaware of their intentions, Krishna Kumar consumed the tea. The two men also had tea with him.

However, the tea had been allegedly mixed with a sedative. The accused stole his gold chain, ₹4,000 in cash, and his bag.

Following a complaint, the Baiyappanahalli Railway Police registered a case and launched an investigation. Subsequently, the police arrested them while they were allegedly attempting a similar theft on another passenger.

The police have advised passengers not to accept food or beverages from strangers during train journeys and to remain vigilant
